Okay, so guys (and girls:p) I bought a WD My Passport Essentials SE external HDD, and I was wondering what is the proper way to eject it? I just right click on it in My Computer, click Eject,. The drive stopped working. I then used Windows uninstall. Since then, when I select Windows backup, the external drive's icon appears with a large red (X). For some reason, Windows thinks the drive is still there. Under disk mgmt. I find the drive listed. I right click and choose uninstall. Windows states it is removing the program and to restart. Re-insert the WD My Passport. The first and foremost thing is to remove the WD My Passport safely.
